How Can severe Vomiting After Having Food Be Treated?

I have a flu of some sort I think, for about two days now. I vomited the first few hours which made me stop eating much at all. Everytime I eat or drink anything other than water, I get a feeling like I might throw up. I also have the dilemma of oftenly pooping liquid. Every hour or so I have to. I m thinking if I eat more it would solidify, but I don t want to throw up. What should I do?

Hello,

I read your message and understood your medical problem.

It seems you have gone through gastroenteritis which probably is viral infection of the GI tract as you lack fever and other associated symptoms.

You may develop cramps and headaches later and if you don't drink enough water you are at risk of dehydration because of vomiting and diarrhea.

The first step in treating viral gastroenteritis is to keep well hydrated through drinking more water during and between meals and to take plenty of rest. Eat in small amounts and often to let your stomach recover.

Antibiotics must not be used unless it is determined a bacterial cause. A stool sample must be taken to determine the cause.

There is no need for anti-vomiting and anti-diarrhea drugs but if they are necessary, in the future you can take OTC drugs, like tasectan, probiotics and oral rehydration salts (ORS). Paracetamol or ibuprofen will help you with fever if present.

BRAT diet (Banana, rice, apple sauce, toast) until fully recovered.

Wish fast recovery.
